LoyKratung
November 05, 2006, on the full moon night, the Thai community of this island celebrated the festival of LoyKratung right by the beach. The decoration of the 'kratung', the floats were so beautiful. It was impressive evening full of fun and delight.
The celebration of this festival is to thank the water God for all the goodness the water has brought to the lives of the Thai people. By placing the floats they pray that it would take away all the bad luck of the year and bring the good ones to them. The floats were lit and gently floated away under the moonlight. It was beautiful and romantic at the same time.
I truly applaud the Thai women especially for they were the ones who put everything together; the most delicious Thai food, the lively music, the graceful dance, the beautifully decorated 'kratung' and last but not least, they even had judges pick-out the best fashion show winners and most outstanding decorated kratung. That was an enjoyable evening.

Cats, musical in the desert 2006
I was lucky to have this opportunity to see Cats performed at the Tuacahn amphitheatre in St. George, Utah this summer, on the way to Europe. I missed this musical when I was living in London. But this is even better, the backdrop of this open air theatre was the mountain itself. The hit song 'Memory' is a nostalgic piece. The cast was great, fun and friendly. I told the white cat I came all the way from Hawaii to hear her sing and she said with her scottish accent, 'I came all the way from Scottland to sing for you'. I thought hat was sweet.
The metaphor of this production, to be redeemed from past mistake, receive forgiveness and hope for the better future. Do we agree here?
Viewers, please ignore the word Costa, it was not intended to be here and has nothing to do with this post. I just can't delete it. Meeeow!

FYI
For your information I have just read this newspaper clipping on the local FYI news column reporting the urinal designs in Malaysian public toilets. ' ...include shape of musical instruments and others with painted red lips.....' I must say Malaysian News travel far and wide even to this little island. '........other designs include......' read the rest of it in The New Straits Times and draw your own conclusion:-)
